Lemonade Day 2016

Lemonade Day Stockton is a city-wide educational program presented by Tuleburg. We are kicking off our inaugural year with the Freshman class at Health Careers Academy. Lemonade Day teaches our youth the entrepreneurial skills necessary to start, own, and operate their own business—a lemonade stand. The students will learn the steps and planning necessary to start a business, but just as important, learn valuable life skills, such as: leadership, collaboration, responsibility, and teamwork. They learn to set a goal, make a plan, and work their plan to achieve their dreams. In the process, they experience a new level of confidence, and some for the first time, see new possibilities for their future. Come share in the excitement and try out the best lemonades in Stockton! At the University Park campus on Saturday, May 21.

Sutter Gould Health Professions Fair

A huge thank you goes out to Sutter Gould for hosting HCA Students at their Health Professions Fair. Students were excited to make casts, have the casts cut off, meet the amazing staff and Doctors of Sutter Gould and spend one on one time finding out about the different professions. Thank you Sutter Gould for making Saturday, April 25 an incredible experience for our students!

Speakers Needed

  • Mental Health Matters Classroom Speakers Sign Up
    • Mental Health Matters is a one year college and career preparatory English course for 9th graders in which students explore mental and behavioral health disorders, teen challenges, disorder-related violence, and disparities in the mental health care system. Throughout the course, students conduct self-generated research related to each thematic unit, utilize the writing process to effectively communicate information and ideas using industry-specific language, analyze and justify personal perspectives regarding mental and behavioral health issues, and effectively use current media to inform and persuade multiple audiences for different purposes. We are looking for speakers on specific subjects to come in and share their expertise with us. If you would like to come share with our class, or know someone who would be perfect for this, please fill out the form at the link above and let us know!
  • Rounds Speakers Sign Up
    • We are always looking for professionals to come in and speak to our students about their careers, their passion about health and/or their academic journey to get where they are today!  As a guest speaker at HCA you will present to approximately 50 students at a time. You will give two 45 minute presentations back to back. Our Rounds Speakers always speak Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Would you like to help? If your answer is yes, which we hope it is, please fill out the form at the link above and someone will get back to you to schedule your time. If the answer is not you, but you know someone who would be interested, please pass this information along to the proper person, or email me their contact information and I will get a hold of them directly. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Maxine Areida (maxineareida@stocktonusd.net or (209) 933-7360).
